Mashed Potatoes are delicious enough but you can add another spin to it by making it more exciting. So, here’s a Cheesy Mashed Potato recipe.
You may opt to choose low-fat milk and cheese substitutes. This is a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving dinner!
Health Facts! It’s probably better to avoid cheese as much as possible when you are trying to lose or control your weight. It is also better for hypertensive people not to eat cheese because of its cholesterol and sodium content. But one cannot undermine the health benefits of this dairy product. It’s very high calcium content is good for your dental and bone health. It also has vitamin B and other anti-cancer properties.
- russet potatoes - 2 pounds, peeled, cut into chunks, cooked until tender
- hot milk - 3/4 to 1 cup
- butter - 2 tbsp
- onion powder - 1/2 tsp
- salt - to taste
- ground black pepper - 1/2 tsp
- Cheddar cheese - 1 cup, shredded
- chives - 1 tbsp, chopped
- Drain cooked potatoes well and return to the pot.
- Add milk, butter, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mash well.
- Stir in Cheddar cheese.
- Gently re-heat mashed potatoes, stirring constantly, until all of the cheese has melted.
- Pour into serving bowl and sprinkle with chopped chives.
- Serve immediately.
